Very Wicked Things

Book #2 of the Briarcrest Academy Series

by Ilsa Madden-Mills

I got out of the shower and dressed hurriedly, anxious to get back to Cuba.

The door opened, and like he did it every single day, he stepped inside the steamy

“Think I need a shower, too,” he said, his fingers easing off his football practice shirt.

What? Now?

Trying to play it cool and failing miserably, I moved my eyes off his naked chest and

checked out his track pants and the obvious bulge he sported.

Oh. Did his lower body match the rest of him? Was it all sinewy muscle and big?

Just, yeah. That thought got stuck in my head and went round and round.

“You staying?” he asked, a grin working his face. Pleased at my open admiration,

“No,” I said, but made no move to go. ‘Cause I had no shame when it came to catching a

glimpse of his muscular body.

“Good,” he said, his smile broadening.

He pivoted to turn on the shower, and my eyes betrayed me again, admiring the muscles

in his back, checking out how they twitched and rippled when he moved. Football and rowing

had been good to him. My fingers itched to know how they’d feel underneath my hands. Which

was stupid because we had nothing in common. Not a rich Highland Park boy and a poor girl

from Ratcliffe.

And most importantly, he was a player, not to be trusted.

He hooked his thumbs into his pants, paused a moment—maybe waiting to see if I’d

run from the room?—but when I didn’t budge, he slid them and his underwear off. My mouth

opened. Cuba Hudson, the most popular guy at Briarcrest was standing right in front of me,

naked and beautiful. And like the cocky bastard he was, he posed for me, his big-ass biceps and

chiseled abs making me vibrate all over. Need for him slammed into me.

Did I say he was hot?

Well, I was wrong.

He was off-the-charts, no-holds-barred, freaking going make-me-lose-my-mind-right-
there delicious. The ultimate man-candy, the kind I knew to stay away from, yet here I was,

ogling him.

“Still leaving?” he asked huskily.

“Any minute,” I said in a weak voice, backing up to the wall and propping myself up.

“Just chillin’. Shower wore me out. I might need to hold this wall up for a sec.”

“I want you to stay,” he said, eyes at half-mast, glowing with heat.

“Why?” I said, aching to touch him. But that was crazy. I was a virgin, and I didn’t know

jack about touching a guy’s you-know-what.

“Look at me, Dovey.”

I tore my eyes from his manhood, blushing.

His eyes burned. “There’s a sense of urgency in my head. Like our time is limited.”

I nodded. Yeah, same here.

“And, I’ll be honest, I don’t want to rush you, but I’m dying to sink into you. I want to set

you on fire with need for me.” He ghosted his hands over the steel rod between his legs. Once,

twice, and—holy shizzle, he didn’t stop.

My chest rose faster and faster, and I tried to chill-out, but I couldn’t.

He lowered his voice. “Kiss me again, Dovey.”

Oh. “That’s a terrible idea, Cuba. Cause you’re naked, and I’m turned on because you’re

naked. And you’re touching yourself. And you’re naked.” I sucked in a sharp breath. “Not a good

combo. Odds are we’ll end up in that shower together or back in your bed doing the double-
backed monster.”

“Then join me in the shower. I’ll be good. For you.” He arched his back, his hands still

doing that back and forth that was driving me insane.

Liar, liar, pants on fire, I thought. No way he would he be good.

Because he was the Heartbreaker of Briarcrest Academy.

And one wicked boy.

“Well, I’m here now. What do you want to do?” I raise one eyebrow, hoping he’s thinking the same thing I am.

“I thought we’d have a glass of wine on the back patio and talk. Then we can have dinner and see where the night goes from there. How does that sound?”

I try to hide my disappointment at his plan. I was hoping to have him as an appetizer and go from there. I can’t believe my sex drive is revved up after only being with this man twice.

“Sure, sounds like a plan to me. What kind of wine do you have?” I’m not a wine expert, but I know what I like.

“I’ve got a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay or a Pinot. Is there one you prefer?”

“I’ll start with the Chardonnay, please.” It’s my favorite, but I’m not going to tell him just yet.

Drew pours the wine, takes my hand, and leads me out to the patio where he first proposed this idea of marriage. I hadn’t taken the opportunity to admire the view the last time I was here. If this is going to be my home, I think I should take a look around. There’s the patio, which is covered over about six feet by a deck above. The large grill and a patio table are on one side. Beyond the patio is a beautiful in-ground pool with an infinity edge. I love swimming pools. On both sides of the pool are large grassy areas that seem to go on forever.

I could get used to this. I shake my head trying to clear my head. I shouldn’t be thinking like this when our relationship is fake.

Drew pulls a chair out from the table for me before sitting down. Such a gentleman. I smile at that thought, and when I look up he’s staring.

“What?” I can’t help but grin.

“Nothing, just that you have a beautiful smile.”

Okay, my panties are wet again. How is it he keeps doing this to me?

“Um, thanks?”

Drew smiles again and I can feel my cheeks heat up. I’ve got to stop blushing in front of him.

“So, Lily, is there anything in particular you’d like to do on your days off?”

Oh, there are plenty of things I want to do, but I’m not sure I can say them out loud right now.

“Well, I haven’t really thought about it. I have until Monday, so I’m sure we’ll think of something.”

“Monday? I thought you had a wedding this weekend.”

“Nope. The bride postponed due to a family emergency. I don’t have anything going on until Monday, so . . .”

“Wow, that’s great. I’m sure we’ll find a way to fill the time.”

That statement holds promise. I smile at Drew and try to convey my dirty thoughts with my eyes.

When I reach my room, I stop short at one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen.

Lily is curled up on my bed, her hair splayed out on the pillow, and she’s sleeping. She looks so peaceful and content; my dick twitches at the thought of burying myself inside her. My heart rate speeds up and I realize I really like this view. I want to have it view every day. Fuck. There go my plans to keep things simple. I’m falling in love with Lily. I didn’t see that coming, but I kind of like the idea. As I change my clothes, I wonder how this woman got under my skin so quickly.

I know I should let her sleep, but I have to touch her to figure out if what I’m feeling is real, if I want to put my heart on the line again and risk it being crushed. I climb carefully on the bed and she rolls toward me, but doesn’t open her eyes. I brush a few strands of hair away from her face and she smiles. That smile pushes me over the edge. I know I want this woman in my life, and I’m going to do what I can to keep her. It’s a foreign feeling, one I’ve fought for years, but it feels right. I pull her into my arms. She makes a small moaning sound and curls into me. She’s soft where I’m hard and we fit together like we were made for each other. I relax and get lost in the rhythm of her breathing. Soon, I’m dozing, too.

Author Interview

1. What inspired you to write your first book?
Actually, it was more of who inspired me. My aunt, several months ago suggested it since she knows I love to read. I told her that I had no stories that were my own. She told me to be patient. Well I was. I forgot about it and then last year when I was on vacation with the family, I was like, I want to write. Well Break Me was born and I’ve been writing ever since.

2. Is there a message in your books that you want readers to grasp?
In my Torn trilogy, my message that I’m trying to get across is to always love that person deep. Hard. I believe in love at first site and although some don’t like stories with quick “I love yous”, for my characters, it worked. If no one liked the books at all, as long as they got the message that I believe there is someone
out there for everyone. Someone for you to love hard and deep. Fully and unconditionally. I’m not a sappy romance woman but I do love to be swooned and swept off my feet every now and again. And my hubby sure knows how to do that.

3. How much of the book is realistic?
I think the love that Brett has for Evvie in my Torn trilogy was based off of my hubby. I just write and go with the flow but I find that a lot of my Alphas characteristics, I see in my husband so I must be subconsciously writing about him.

4. Are you currently reading a book?
If so what book are you reading now? I AM! If you love dark reads...I’m reading Madeleine Abducted by M.S. Willis. It’s the second book to her Estate series and wow. These books blow me away.

5. Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Well I just started reading LilyWhite/M.S. Willis’ work and I am in love. The first book of hers that I read was the one she co-wrote with Dawn Robertson, The Good Girl. I’ve been hooked since. Also, I just finished Harper Sloan’s Corps Security Series. All caught up and waiting now for Locke. I love Sway and all of the characters. So talented these ladies are.

6. What are your current projects?
Oh my gosh. What am I not writing? Lets see. I have See Me (Shattered, #4), One: which will be a short story featured in an erotic anthology, um...what else? Oh I’m venturing into the dark realm but it will be awhile before this story is released. I have way more on the go that need to be out first. Then there is Stone (Brothers, #1) which is a military/Seals romance series. And a couple more that are untitled.

7. Can you share a little of your current work with us?
What I’m writing right now? Like right at this very moment before I started answering these questions? No. I can’t. You’ll thank me later. #anticpation

8. Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
I have many favorite authors and I have many authors who inspire me even if I have never read their work. But my favorite paranormal romance author is, J.R. Ward. Her eye for detail is amazing and she sure knows how to write an alpha male.

9. What books have most influenced your life?
I’m honestly not sure. I really don’t know how to answer this. I guess one that comes to mind, is the Bible. Now I am in no way a Bible thumper. I go to church as often as I can. I have not read the Bible front to back, cover to cover, so I am in no shape to preach to anyone. The reason I chose this particular book is because every time I read something from it, whether it be a chapter or one sentence, I feel inspired. Influenced. Happy. Whole. Whatever word you want to use.

10. What was the hardest part of writing?
Not writing. Lol! Seriously though. The hardest part I’d have to say and I’m still struggling with this, is detail and making sure I don’t use the same words over and over again. I had a problem with my hero calling his girl a pet name way too many times.I think it was at 150 uses by the time I was done the 70k novel. Some people pointed it out in reviews and I used their advice and got rid of most in the second book. That was my bad. But now when I re-read it, it bothers me. Lol!

NOW for the FUN stuff!

1. What's your favorite food?
Chocolate chip cookies

2. What is one of your favorite quotes?
You can make anything by writing ~ C.S. Lewis

3. What is your favorite Holiday?

4. If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?
The birth of Jesus Christ

5. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Dance. Every type of dancing there is.

6. If you were immortal for a day, what would you do?
Dive to the deepest parts of the ocean to see all the animals that no human eye has ever seen before. It’s an “I love monsters” thing.

7. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
C.S. Lewis

8. If you could know the answer to any question besides, “What is the meaning of life?”, what would
it be?
Are there other life forms out there besides humans on earth?

9. If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?
Ava Tramell from the Crossfire Series. LOL!

10. Tell us something totally embarrassing about yourself!
This isn’t really embarrassing but I LOVE Phineas and Ferb. Parry the Platypus is freaking awesome. Lol!

Stalk the Author:

1. When and why did you begin writing?
I started writing when I was in the 6th grade. I won a writing competition and got to go to a conference where I had my 'book' signed by Peggy know, the author of the Amelia Bedelia books.

2. When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I guess when I started to write in the hopes of someday getting published. It's been a long haul and many times I don't think I've gotten very far. I started when I was about 20 and I'm over twice that old now...

3. What inspired you to write your first book?
I was having a rough patch in my life and I needed an escape. Things were pretty rough and I didn't have the means to get away any other way. So I wrote.

4. Do you have a specific writing style?
I don't know how to answer that! The only style I know how to write is I guess yes?

5. How did you come up with your titles?
Sometimes that's really difficult. I just think on it and it usually comes to me...or I'll run a few by friends and they'll help me....

6. Is there a message in your books that you want readers to grasp?
Sometimes. I don't want to come across as preachy. I want to entertain. But there are some hidden messages sometimes.

7. How much of the book is realistic?
I try to make people real. I like to show growth. I suffer from panic attacks and in a couple of my books the heroines have had to deal with those. Of course, some readers view that as weakness and I guess it could be construed as that...

8. Are you currently reading a book? If so what book are you reading now?
Don't laugh...I'm reading an encyclopedia of the supernatural. It's very interesting and is full of great ideas for paranormal books!

9. Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
There are several authors I'm very fond of. I like Lori Brighton, Tessa Dare and when I'm in a steamy mood, Siren Publishing authors are the best!

10. What are your current projects?
I'm currently working on an older short story and turning it into a novella. It's called, THE GROUPIE and is the 2nd book in my White Springs Series. And it's for the 18+ only audience!

My newest release however, is A BRIDE FOR THE BARON and it's a book suitable for most ages. It's the 2nd in my JILTED series of books.

Here's the blurb: Martha Arden has left England to escape the humiliation of a broken engagement. Going to Virginia to visit her cousin Jude, and his wife, Chloe, Martha becomes an unwitting pawn in their game to find a wife for their jilted friend, Frederick Von Richter. Will the ploy work? Will Martha be a bride for the baron?

Book  1

11. Can you share a little of your current work with us?
I would love to. It's the story of a White Springs woman who wins tickets to see her favorite country music crush...It is a steamy novella so I guess you know what happens between her and her dream's the middle and end that will surprise you. At least I hope it will! :)

12. Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Writing fiction is not just sitting down and putting words on paper. A lot of the author is on those pages. Sometimes facing things I don't want to is difficult.

13. Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
My all time favorite writer is Catherine Cookson. I love her stories and her style. I am also so impressed with the adversities she had to overcome in her own life. To go from outcast to Dame...well that's quite something!

14. What books have most influenced your life most?
That's an impossible question. But if I had to name one, The Bible is at the top of that list!

15. What was the hardest part of writing ?
Time to do it. There are not enough hours in the day to get everything done I want to do!

NOW for the FUN stuff !

1. What's your favorite food ?
Must I pick just one? I love pizza AND I love mint chocolate chip ice cream!

2. What's your favorite song ?
I don't have one of those either!!! I do like Elvis Presley's If I Can Dream...
3. What is one of your favorite quotes?
"Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things"~George Carlin

4. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
Ironing...I have a pile right now waiting for me.

5. What is your favorite Holiday ?
I should say Christmas....but I really like Halloween. It is what it is. It's about fun and candy and costumes (yeah, I know that's not what it started out as) but the true meaning of Christmas has gotten lost. If Christmas weren't about shopping and stuff and over indulging, I think I'd like it better. Sure has become something it wasn't intended to be...and yes, I'm as guilty as everyone else in perpetuating the modern Christmas. See Halloween is allowed a metamorphosis...Christmas is not! :P

6. If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?
Probably my early to mid-thirties. Things looked up for me, I had may kids, life seemed good. Worry seems to have taken over my mid-40's and lets not even talk about the saggy butt and boobs!
7. If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?
I don't think I would choose a great historical event. I think I'd like to just visit a medieval English village and see what life was like. Sit in a general store in the old west and try the licorice. Simple things like that.

8. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Dance. I would love to be a great dancer. I'm far too stiff and stubborn to allow anyone to take the lead.
9. If you were immortal for a day, what would you do?
Wow, tough one! Maybe scuba dive? I know you don't have to be immortal to do that, but it would help when you're a chicken like me!

10. If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?
I already did that! I changed it to Harris. :)

11. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
I'd like to meet Jesus. Wouldn't that be eye opening?

12. If you were reincarnated as an animal/drink/ice cream flavor, what would it be?
I think it would be great to be a bird. Maybe a blue bird. Small and quick and damnably adorable!

13. If you could know the answer to any question, besides “What is the meaning of life?”, what would it be? Is there life after death. Aren't you curious about that one too?

14. If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?
Elizabeth Bennet...Mr. Darcy here I come!
15. Tell us something totally embarrassing about yourself ! goes. I met my husband at a college graduation. During one of the speeches I stepped out for a breath of fresh air. I adjusted my skirt and carefully sat down on the steps when I noticed a guy walking back and forth in front of me. He came over and started talking. Well, he seemed nice and was very cute...

We talked a while and laughed and really hit it off. It was like magic...until another woman attending the graduation came up to me and whispered in my ear, "Your panties are showing."

Yes folks, underpants and fate brought my husband and me together!

Thank you so much for sharing your blog with me today. I hope your readers enjoy my interview and attempt at humor!
